A multi-level class designed to train the student to see and render life accurately and with sensitivity while working from direct observation. This session will focus on the still life. Students may bring their own objects. Basic drawing techniques will be explored, such as proportion, perspective and value principles.
**Mentoring option available for this class: bring your own projects and receive feedback and guidance as you work.
I sent a video of how I painted this and the link is in the Google drive (above button) and for convenience here: https://youtu.be/mqlmiWb-QzM
I spoke throughout the video to explain what I was doing and thinking. I still need work on my filming skills but I found a way to work without holding my phone with one hand. I think the wide angle is too wide - let me know if you agree so I can change it on the next videos. Aside from that, there's a lot of good info in the video.
We'll talk in class about what to do next week as we'll get away from fruits. I was thinking a still life again but something with three or four hues rather than the background and orange.
You can come to class with a sketch prepared or begin from the beginning. With the video you have a resource to refer back to if you find yourself wanting to work on it longer than the time we have.
Week 5 & 6 Action Plan:
We will be focusing on braving out shape and shadow block ins. The videos are in the Google Drive and below for convenience. I expect this to take two sessions but I will have another project for week 6 in case this gets completed.
Also, again my screen is a little green so the neutral gray background is for me, slightly greenish and so keep this in mind while watching the video. Match what color you see on your screen or print out.
