This is a basic art principles 101 class intended for students who are beginners with drawing or have tried but can't seem to figure out the basic elements and principles they are missing to improve their drawings.
Students will learn:
What is a value scale?
How do you achieve proper proportion?
How do charcoals work?
How do you create depth, volume and mass?
How to shade.
Line and edge work.
How does light function and move on an object?
How to use and understand your drawing tools.
How to properly sharpen your pencils and charcoals.
What is comparative measuring?
If any of these have lurked in your mind then this class has answers for you. In this course, students gain essential knowledge on representational drawing techniques by training the eye to see. Students will work from geometric observations to learn basic art principles such proportions, values, perspective, positive/negative space, and comparative measuring. Each Zoom check in call will bring up a diversity of questions to add to the mix of knowledge. Zoom sessions will be recorded and accessible to the participants of the virtual classroom for further review. A perfect first art class for the beginner artist, teens or adults seeking a refresher course!
*students may work with graphite but charcoal is recommended and lessons are in charcoal, except one.
