Materials List

This is the best painting class for beginner painting students. It is intended for those who consider themselves true beginners with paint.  However, it is also open to students who have tried working with acrylics but can't figure them out for great results.

Students will learn:

  • Which paints go well together?
  • What colors do you start with?
  • Do you need an underpainting for acrylics?
  • How do paints mix to gain the correct value?
  • What is an acrylic medium, how is it used and why do you need it?
  • How do you create shadows with paint? (Hint: it's not black!)
  • How do you create depth and dimension in paintings?
  • How do you blend with acrylics before they dry?
  • How to layer and glaze a painting.
  • How do you make it look "good enough"?!

If any of these questions have lurked in your mind then this class has answers for you.  Acrylic paint dries quickly so its technique works upon layering.  Students will be introduced to must know elements of acrylic painting while keeping the 101 skill level in mind as we work with simple still life painting compositions.  Students will build on each lesson wherein, by the end of six lessons, they will have gained confidence in the application of acrylic paint, mixing and matching hues, blending techniques, knowledge of mediums, an basics to color theory and more.  Each Zoom check in call will bring up a diversity of questions to add to the mix of knowledge.  Zoom sessions will be recorded and accessible to the participants of the virtual classroom for further review.

Great course for any beginner painter. Step by Step videos included for all lessons.
